A dry red blend from Pessac Leognan made by Jean Delmas, this is a classic wine that hits the entire mainstream buttons for investment. It grows well, carries low risk and is beautiful to drink even in a bad year! It is a 1st growth with production up to 15,000 cases but expect 12,000 on average. This is great for investors because the quantity will go fairly quickly.
Wines Year Description:
This year confused the critics as it remained hidden in taste and aroma until recently. Scored 92 points and only a 60% production, this is a rare but hit and miss version from the winery. You are better off with the 1998 or 2000 but for drinking this is still a great experience. Tobacco, herbs, spice and earth are the leaping smells in this textured wine with an unruly but long finish. It will live till 2030 and is nearly ready to drink now in 2008, so this could become a little improved and will certainly hold a cult appeal. A medium-high risk investment.
