RPJ Score: 96-100
Wine Description: This is a Premier Cru, 1st growth wine with massive appeal worldwide. The wine is certainly a mainstream investment and you’d be hard pushed to find one that doesn’t make money, but you certainly should do your research and choose the best. If you are buying en premeur (before bottling/before initial grading) then this would be a safe bet. Otherwise buy as a young wine and watch it grow!
Wines Year Description: 100 points – It just doesn’t get any better than this, a wine which could claim to be the prize of the vintage which given the stiff competition amongst the 2000s is truly a sign of a great wine. The 2000 will be approachable around 2012 through to 2050! If you are looking for a long term treasure to invest in then this is the one, expensive surely but a gilt edged investment. The wine is a colossal example with its ruby colour, magnificent nose of crème de cassis, flowers, liquorice and espresso. The purity of this full bodied wine is compelling, huge intensity with an amazing finish – do not miss out!
