RPJ Score: 90-95
Wine Description: A dry red blend fron Pauillac. This is one of the most famous 1st growths that carries enormous power world wide. Was originally classified a 2nd growth in the 19th century but was rightly upgraded later on. This is a mainstream investment but you need to be aware of high production. Even if the wine has a perfect score but high production, it will not reach the high plateaus of other years with a lower quantity. Rare wines in names like these make much better investments. See Lafite Rothschild
Wines Year Description: 95 points – Another blockbuster from the Mouton stable, this vintage will mature around 2004 – 2030 and will offer much development during this period and therefore will stimulate further interest as the wine enters its drinking phase. The wine has an astonishing finish of some length, is dense and full bodied, and has outstanding purity and high tannins. A quite profound wine which should be seriously considered a key investment opportunity.
